Plan your route!

The lakes Mondsee and Irrsee, situated in the heart of Austria, are easily accessible:


By train & by bus:

Arrival by train at Salzburg main station. From Salzburg by bus 140 to Mondsee (1 hour transfer).
Or by train to Oberhofen/Zell am Moos and from there by bus 595 direction Mondsee. 

Bus 150 from Bad Ischl (80 minutes transfer)
Bus 156 from St. Gilgen (20 minutes transfer)

Postbus-Shuttle in the region Mondseeland

In the area of Mondsee and Irrsee there are more than 400 stops of the postbus-shuttle. You can reach shops, restaurants, attractions and more within 300 meters walking distance. The shuttle is bookable via app or by telephone: +43 664 9271464 (monday-friday 8:30 a.m. - noon).

 

By car:

  • Coming from Germany – with a motorway vignette:
    Motorway A8 (Munich-Salzburg), cross the border at Walserberg onto the Westautobahn A1 motorway for Salzburg and Vienna. Continue towards Vienna and take the Mondsee exit.
  • From Germany without a motorway vignette:
    A8 motorway (Munich-Salzburg), Bad Reichenhall exit. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit for Freilassing (B20) and turn right over the border. Continue along the Munich trunk road (Bundesstraße) and Ignaz Harrer Straße for Salzburg. Follow the road until Salzburg Gnigl and then continue along the B1 (Linzer Bundesstraße) for Eugendorf. In Eugendorf, turn right after the third roundabout onto Thalgauer Landsraße L103 for Thalgau-Mondsee.
  • From Austria:
    From Vienna, take the Motorway west A1 – Mondsee exit.
  • From Carinthia, take the Motorway A10 ("Tauernautobahn", please note: additional toll payable at the Tauern road tunnel) for Salzburg. At the Salzburg interchange, take the motorway west A1 for Vienna – Mondsee exit.

 

Vignette:
Vignettes (toll stickers) are mandatory for motorcycles, cars, buses and lorries on all Austrian motorways and expressways (Schnellstraßen). Vignettes are available at all motorway border crossings into Austria and at petrol stations.

Parking in Mondsee

In Mondsee there are many parking possibilities, some of them are free of charge, some are chargeable.
In the street "Franz-Kreutzberger-Straße" there are some bus parking spots (€ 20,- per bus).
