The Kolomansberg was one of the most important sanctuaries of our country, which was much visited. Documentary evidence goes back to 1462 and 1511. However, it is assumed that the Koloman cult is connected to a pagan place of worship existing there.3) The old healing spring springs slightly below the church. First there was only a cross at the well, later a wooden chapel was built. In 1742 Abbot Lidl had the wooden Kolomanskirche, which is still preserved today, erected at the top of the mountain It is one of the few surviving wooden churches in Austria. The small baroque altar from the monastery church was already in 1692 in a predecessor, which was renewed according to preserved records in 1658 by Abbot Simon. 4) The Kolomanskirche is still visited today. Hikers and pilgrims (the Via Nova leads past here) like to rest at this sanctuary. Festive divine services are held here by groups of several parishes during the year, Mondsee on Friday after Whitsun, on the 24th of August and on the feast of St. Koloman on the 13th of October.
