In the Freilichtmuseum Rauchhaus Mondsee - Bauernmuseum
On Sunday, September 16, 2018 from 10:00 to 17:00, the great autumn festival takes place on the site of the Mondsee open-air museum. Farmers and craftsmen from the region give insights into their work and show their skills. For the first time the newly restored, historic steam engine can be seen.
It was acquired privately by architect and chairman Johannes Pfeffer in 2007 and has been renovated and made operational by Michael Rauchenschwandtner. This steamer was used, among other things, for cereal threshing. The same type of this machine was used in the last century in the Mondseeland.
As in Granpa´s times, the Tiafgroba Rossara manage by hand and on horseback the field and give an insight into their old craftsmanship. Turning, spinning and scythes are just some of the many activities that are shown. In addition, the Schmankerl-Roas leads into the culinary world of farmers: lard bread, donuts, Pofes, fresh hemp noodles with sprouts or homemade brandy are just some of the delicious highlights.
"The rural culture in Mondsee has a long tradition. Many associations and volunteers revive the museum area at the autumn festival and show a piece of living history ", says the Custos of the Freilichtmuseum Johannes Pfeffer. More than 50 honorary volunteers and numerous local associations are in operation on this day. They provide for a rural atmosphere on the grounds of the Mondsee open-air museum, including:
Mowing demonstrations of the Tiefgroba Rossara
Shackles of the scythes and scales sold
Regional delicacies and tastings, fresh donuts and Pofes
Spiders, broomsticks, scythes
Woodworking, turning, etc.
Hemp processing and hemp products
Historic equipment and vintage cars in the area ...
