Specially designated nature reserve in the Europa nature reserves Mondsee - Attersee
This special protected area is one of the last near-natural shores of Lake Mondsee, certainly the most extensive. The area is characterized by the presence of a well-developed black-lime forest, extensive low moor meadow with one of the last well-known occurrences of the "Sumpf-Siegwurz", as well as large-scale pond orchids and a stock of the very rare municipalities of Teichsimse. The presence of yellow-flowered pond rose has also given the protected area in the People's mouth also the name of water lily pad.
For a few years there has been a beaver occurrence in the protected area. Observations are only possible by boat from the waterfront, preferably in the early morning hours. The traces of the beaver occurrence are clearly recognizable by means of the trees and shrubs, which are present in the winter months, as well as precipitated trees and bushes.
In the year 2016 for the first time two singing males of the Drosselrohrsänger, a rare songbird species, were detected in the protected area.
