Are motorised/electric boats allowed on Mondsee/Irrsee?

Motorboats are prohibited on both Mondsee and Irrsee. The only exception: commercial shipping, water rescue and water ski school.
Electric boats are permitted on Lake Mondsee, but not on Lake Irrsee.

Where can I swim with my dog?

At Mondsee and Irrsee, dogs are not allowed in the public bathing areas for veterinary and sanitary reasons. In accommodation with private bathing areas, the owners decide whether dogs are allowed or not.

There are free access points to the lake at Mondsee that are also suitable for dogs.
Attention lake access Kreuzstein: Parking is only possible at the public bathing area St. Gilgen am Mondsee (approx. 15 minutes walk away)

Important: Assistance dogs (certificate required!) are also permitted at public bathing areas!

Are there bathing areas where there is no entrance fee?

At both Mondsee and Irrsee, there are bathing areas with an entrance fee and bathing areas without an entrance fee, but with a paid car park:

• Free bathing areas with paid parking:
  Badeplatz Tiefgraben, Badeplatz Schwarzindien, Badeplatz Loibichl, Landesbadeplatz Zell am Moos, Badeplatz Plomberg
• Paid bathing areas:
  Alpenseebad Mondsee, Laiter lido, Zell am Moos children's pool

Are there boat trips at Mondsee and Irrsee?

There is no boat company on the Irrsee.

There are two boat companies on Lake Mondsee that offer round trips on the lake (no scheduled boat trips!). A round trip lasts approx. 1 hour and starts/ends at the Mondsee lake promenade. Please note that the round trips only take place when required (depending on demand, weather, etc.).

What is not allowed?

Live bait fish; from 1.11. to 31.01. the use of a hegene (paternoster); no further licence may be purchased in addition to a valid annual licence.
