Dress code for the bridal couple

WEDDING COUPLE

Bride. The bride wears what she likes. The colour white is reserved exclusively for the bride.

Groom. Around 60% of men get married in the Salzkammergut in elegant, timeless leather trousers, made to measure with beautiful embroidery. The bride, however, does not necessarily wear traditional costume, but white or ivory. The classic wedding suit is still in demand.

WITNESS

Maid of Honour. Without a dress code, knee-length dresses are a safe choice. For weddings after 3.00 pm you can also appear floor-length. In terms of colour, everything except black, red and white is permitted. The maid of honour's bag should be small enough to look elegant, but large enough to hold the bride's SOS kit (blister plasters, tissues, powder etc.). Head jewellery is allowed - but you shouldn't steal the show from the bride!

Best man. A dark suit or traditional costume to match the groom is a must. It can be enhanced with a waistcoat under the jacket. However, the best man should never be more elegant than the groom and the bride's father! The plain-coloured tie should ideally be matched to the colour of the maid of honour.

PARENTS

Mother. After the bride, the mother of the bride should traditionally be the most elegant lady at the wedding. A stylish dress that is not too sexy and not too flashy or a costume is ideal. A chic hat or gloves can add that certain something to the outfit. Strictly speaking, closed shoes and tights should be worn.

Father. A festive, dark-coloured suit - with or without a waistcoat - is a must. The ideal shirt for a dignified appearance is pure white with a double cuff and cufflinks. The same applies here: after the groom, the father of the bride should be the most elegant gentleman at the party. A pinafore and a silver tie provide extra elegance.

GUESTS

Ladies. The dress should be festive, but by no means too sexy. A classic cut that is not too low-cut, a simple design and a subtle colour are best. The same applies here: avoid white, black and red. Knee-length dresses are ideal, for younger guests it can also be a little shorter. High heels or flats: Both are possible - the main thing is that they are classy and match the outfit. Apart from trainers, booties and boots, anything goes.

Gentlemen. A suit in black, anthracite or dark blue is appropriate. Guests do not have to wear a waistcoat under their jacket! Men are best advised to wear a pure white shirt, but light blue also works well. Short sleeves are an absolute no-go at weddings! Black, polished smooth leather shoes are essential.

Our tip: state the "DRESSCODE" on the invitation card.
For example, "Dress code for ladies - floor-length festive dress" and "Suit" for men. This is a valuable tip for the whole wedding party. You then know exactly how the bride and groom want their wedding party to be. Exceptions confirm the dress code!
