The bar has been experiencing a revival since 2019 and is reviving the good life in Mondsee. Back in the 1950s, a cocktail bar was set up in the rooms of today's Schlossbräu for the American occupying soldiers housed in the castle. Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer once refreshed themselves in the Castello Bar after filming "Sound of Music". Greta Garbo, Ives St Laurent, but also Herbert von Karajan, Niki Lauda and Jochen Rindt regularly stopped by for a glass or two. The tranquil, rural Mondsee has been a meeting place for sophisticated high society since the 1950s.
