Gerald Aichriedler

Mondsee am Mondsee, Oberösterreich, Österreich

Gerald Aichriedler is known as an artist and a manufacturer of skis and SUP boards.

Have you ever built your own pair of skis? At skiWERK in Mondsee, more than just a pair of skis is created—something personal is born. Carpenter, craftsman, and artist Gerald Aichriedler guides each person individually through a process that focuses not only on the product, but also on the person creating it.

Your Ski
Before the first chip is cut, there’s a genuine conversation. What type of ski suits you? How do you want to ski—freeride or touring? What type of wood, what length, what design reflects your personal style? Gerald Aichriedler brings his craftsmanship to the table—and listens. The result is a ski that truly belongs to its owner: in its shape, its character, and its story.

The Workshop
In the bright, inviting workshop in Gosauergraben, you’ll build your dream ski yourself in one and a half days—using a sandwich construction method, with expert guidance every step of the way. No prior experience is necessary, just a willingness to engage with the process. The atmosphere in the workshop creates the perfect setting for this: calm, focused, and welcoming.

Celebrate the Completion Upon request, the process can be rounded off with a celebration in the workshop—a shared finale to honor what you’ve accomplished. Bookable by arrangement.
Awarded the 2014 Upper Austria Craftsmanship Award by the Chamber of Commerce (WKO).

In a carpenter’s workshop on Lake Mondsee, something special is taking shape: a wooden stand-up paddleboard —built by the very person who will later paddle it on the water. Gerald Aichriedler has been guiding this process since 2014 with skilled craftsmanship, a calm demeanor, and a genuine interest in the people who come to him.

Your board. Your process.
Before the first cut is made, there’s a conversation. What shape? What kind of wood? What design reflects your personal style? Together, we determine the shape, schedule, and process—everything is personalized and custom-made. No prior experience is required—just the excitement of an extraordinary experience.

The Workshop—Woodworking
Over the course of two to four days, the board takes shape step by step: A laser cutter cuts the plywood parts into a precise frame, which is then completed with solid wood rails, the outer shell, and all the details. Each finished SUP takes about 60 hours to build—making every board truly one-of-a-kind. If you’d like, you can also build a wooden paddle during a one-day workshop.

Custom-Made Boards
If you’d rather have Gerald build the board for you, you get to choose the shape and design—and receive a one-of-a-kind, handcrafted board.

And then: Out on the Water The best part after building it—launching your own board on Lake Mondsee for the first time. What was created in the workshop belongs on the lake.

Gerald Aichriedler is a sculptor and artist from Mondsee. At the heart of his work is the art project “A Voice for the Trees”: an ongoing artistic exploration of place, of the inner and the outer, and of the co-creation between people and rooted tree trunks. Nature is his studio—and the tree is his most important conversation partner.

A Voice for the Trees—Sculptures in the Great Outdoors
Trees that remain rooted in their place. Their roots, their history—and a new face. Gerald Aichriedler works directly within the landscape: he reveals what lies hidden within the wood and creates places where people can pause and reflect. Each sculpture invites you to discover it from every direction—because every angle tells a different story. The four sculptures—SIRIUS, PEDRO, NAORI, and FRIEDENSBUCHE—are located around Mondsee and are freely accessible—at any time, to everyone.

Commissioned Works – A New Look for Your Tree
Trees that have lived out their lives deserve more than to be forgotten. In close dialogue with his clients, Gerald Aichriedler asks: What does this tree embody? What should this place convey in the future? This leads to the creation of personalized installations for private gardens, public parks, or memorial sites.

Wood and Stone Sculpture – One-of-a-Kind Commissioned Works
A walnut log becomes a barstool. Shell limestone, 140 million years old, becomes a sculpture for eternity. Gerald Aichriedler works with what nature and time have shaped—and uses it to create one-of-a-kind pieces of enduring value. All works are created according to personal requests and commissions.
