Where is the Salzkammergut Card available and how much does it cost?

The Salzkammergut Card (summer and winter) is free of charge for stays of 3 nights or more and is issued per person. Children/young people only need their own card from the age of 15. You can get the card either from your landlord or at our Mondsee tourist office.

 

How deep is Lake Mondsee?

Maximum depth: 68 metres
Average depth: 36 metres

 

Are barbecues allowed on the lake?

No, barbecues are prohibited in all public areas.

 

Are campfires allowed on the lake shores?

It is generally not forbidden to light campfires at the open access points to the lake, unless the authorities have issued a corresponding forest fire protection order due to drought. This has always been the case in the summer months in recent years. Violations are punished with severe penalties.

 

Are there souvenir shops in Mondsee?

You can buy souvenirs in various shops on the market square in Mondsee.

 

Is there a pedestrian zone in Mondsee?

Yes, in the following areas: the entire market square, Wredeplatz, Herzog-Odilo-Straße from the market square to the junction with Freinbergerstraße and Kirchengasse from the market square to the junction with Badgasse.

  • Viewpoint car park 2 on Mondseeberg with a view over Lake Mondsee (accessible by car and on foot)
  • Mondsee lake promenade with a view of the Schafberg (accessible on foot and by car to the Mondsee Süd car park)
  • Maria Hilf pilgrimage church with views of the village of Mondsee and the lake (accessible by car and on foot)
  • Kolomansberg with a view of the Irrsee and Mondsee (only accessible on foot):
  • Irrsberg with views of the Irrsee and Wallersee (SalzburgerLand), only accessible on foot:
