FAQ Postbus-Shuttle

1. WHAT IS THE POSTBUS SHUTTLE?

The Postbus Shuttle is the micro public transportation on-demand mobility solution offered by Postbus. The Postbus Shuttle is used as a supplement to existing public transportation (PT). Within a defined service area and time frame, cars or minibuses are used. These vehicles operate without a fixed timetable, traveling from stop to stop based on demand. The stops are closely spaced approximately every 300 meters throughout the entire service area. Rides can be booked on-demand at any time.

 

2. RIDE

Booking

How to book a Postbus Shuttle ride in the Mondsee region?

Postbus Shuttle rides can be booked using the Postbus Shuttle app (available for free in the App Store or Play Store).

Furthermore, bookings can be made with so-called shuttle interface operators (such as doctors, restaurants, etc.) in the region.

What information is required when booking?

The necessary information includes the starting point and destination, desired departure time or desired arrival time, and the number of people per seat category.

Ideally, the starting and ending bus stops (name or number) are given. The starting and ending addresses can also be provided, in which case the walking distance to the boarding bus stop will be provided.

 

What are the available seat categories?

For Postbus Shuttle bookings in the Mondsee region, there are five seat categories to choose from:

  • Standard ticket
  • Climate Ticket Austria, Upper Austria, Salzburg
  • Time card OÖVV (weekly, monthly, yearly card, youth ticket-network)
  • Time card SVV (weekly, monthly card, SUPER s'COOL-CARD)
  • Persons above the age of 65 years / with pension card
  • Child under 6 years

Note: It should be noted that each person must choose exactly one seat category!

 

How old do you have to be to ride the Postbus Shuttle without a companion?

Children under the age of 6 are only allowed to ride with a companion (at least 14 years old).

Note: By law, a child seat is not required in a taxi, but it is recommended. The Postbus Shuttle vehicles used in the Mondsee region are equipped with booster seats for children.

 

When can the Postbus Shuttle be booked?

Postbus Shuttle rides can be booked at any time during the service hours for rides. The availability depends on the actual vehicle utilization.

Rides can be booked up to 30 days in advance, and timely booking is recommended.

 

Is it possible to travel from address to address?

Rides are possible from bus stop to bus stop. These are chosen so that the nearest bus stop is within walking distance

 

Operating hours

When is the Postbus Shuttle operating in the Mondsee region?

Trips are only possible within the operating hours. The first trip is arranged taking into account the travel time to the respective starting point.

  • Monday to Thursday 7:00 am to 8:00 pm
  • Friday, Saturday 7:00 am to 10:00 pm
  • Sunday & public holidays 7:00 am to 8:00 pm
  • July & August DAILY 7:00 am to 10:00 pm

 

Detours & Bundling

The Postbus Shuttle in the Mondsee region automatically bundles trip requests. Under certain circumstances (similar routes and travel times), individual trips are combined into shared trips. This may result in slight detours in individual cases.

Fleet

All trips are carried out by a regional taxi company. The vehicles are branded in the Postbus Shuttle design and are therefore easily recognizable.

 

Everything about the trip

When do you need to be at the starting point?

A time window (5 minutes) is provided during booking. The exact departure time of the Postbus Shuttle is communicated via message prior to departure for app bookings.

Note: Additional bookings made afterwards may result in minor changes to departure and arrival times.

 

Is getting on and off at stops mandatory?

Getting on and off is only possible at Postbus Shuttle stops. If safe boarding or alighting is not possible, the vehicle is entitled to stop at the nearest safe boarding or alighting point.

 

Does the Postbus Shuttle wait briefly to run an errand (e.g. pharmacy, tobacco shop)?

No, a separate booking is required for each direction of travel. It is possible to order the return trip at the time of booking.

 

Cancellation

How can you cancel a trip?

Trips can be canceled free of charge up to 30 minutes before departure via the Postbus Shuttle app and by phone (for Shuttle Interface partners).

 

Other

Carriage of objects

Objects that fit in a conventional car trunk (e.g. scooters, strollers) can be carried free of charge.

 

Are pets allowed?

No, the carriage of pets is not permitted.

Payment options

How can Postbus Shuttle trips be paid for?

Payment is possible directly in the vehicle in cash or cashless (credit card, debit card) via the Postbus Shuttle app.

 

Discounts

Are there any special discounts?

Yes, for children under 6 years of age, the Postbus Shuttle ride is free.

The discounted tariff applies to KlimaTicket (Austria, Upper Austria, Salzburg), Time Card OÖVV (weekly, monthly, yearly card, youth ticket network) or Time Card SVV (weekly, monthly card, SUPER s'COOL card)

NEW: 50 % reduction for persons above the age of 65 years with pension card 

 

Is the KlimaTicket Austria recognized?

Yes, the KlimaTicket Austria is considered for trips with the Postbus Shuttle. The credit is granted directly during the booking process by specifying the correct seat category (KlimaTicket Austria, Upper Austria, Salzburg). The fare is automatically calculated. The KlimaTicket Austria must be presented to the driver upon boarding.

 

How much does a trip cost with a valid KlimaTicket?

For trips with a valid KlimaTicket, only €1.00 or €2.00, depending on the zone, has to be paid.

Attention: it must be noted that exactly one seat category must be chosen per person!

 

4. POSTBUS SHUTTLE MONDSEELAND

Stops

In which municipalities is the Postbus Shuttle operating?

The service area includes the seven municipalities of Innerschwand am Mondsee, Mondsee, Oberhofen am Irrsee, Oberwang, St. Lorenz, Tiefgraben, Zell am Moos.

Where can an overview of all stops be found?

All stops can be viewed using the Postbus Shuttle app. A digital stop map can be accessed via the following link:

How are the stops named?

The stops are given a unique name and number. An overview can be found online.

How are the stops marked?

All stops will be marked with a sign from September 2022 and will be easily visible.

5. SWITCHING TO BUS & TRAIN

Why is it possible that you cannot travel directly with the Postbus Shuttle?

The Postbus Shuttle in Mondseeland complements the existing public transport (PT) and promotes the switch to bus and train. Certain criteria for switching to PT are required by the State of Upper Austria. Upon booking, reference is made to any required transfers, and there is no choice for customers. Details of the transfer criteria can be found on the website of the State of Upper Austria.

 

6. PERSONAL HOME PICK-UP

What are the advantages of a personal home pick-up?

Individuals who have mobility impairments are picked up directly from their homes by the Postbus Shuttle. This exclusive service is personal, and a companion can be taken along for a fee.

Please note that either the starting point or the destination must be a stop in the region. Rides from door to door are not possible.

For individuals with personal home pick-up, rides are always possible directly within the entire service area.

What are the requirements for requesting a home pick-up?

In addition to demonstrating a mobility impairment (disability card, nursing level, or medical certificate), the requesting person must be registered with their main or secondary residence in the respective municipality. In addition, the person's name [first name, last name] and home address must be provided.


Where can a home pick-up be requested?

The request for a personal home pick-up is made to the home municipality.
